Weather Advisory on Cyclone “Remal” - Update 1

Date and time of issue: 27 May 2024, 12:30 PM

The Severe Cyclonic Storm “Remal” made landfall at midnight on 27 May 2024, and weakened into a Cyclonic Storm over Sagar Islands in West Bengal and Khepupara in Bangladesh. The system is expected to move North-northeastwards and weaken further. 

Under the influence of the system, cloudy weather with moderate to heavy rainfall is expected over the Southern and Eastern parts of the country from the evening of 27th May - 29th of May 2024. The rest of the country can expect light rain. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty wind are also very likely over the above regions. 

Rainfall may trigger localised flash floods and landslides in the above region. 

Updates will be issued if there are significant changes in the forecast.
