A very deep convective cumulonimbus cloud has formed over the region and is moving across the country (west to east). Due to this, less sunlight is passing through the dense cloud. There were reports of darkness today morning from the Southern parts of the country along with rain. Thunderstorms were also reported over isolated places of Southern Bhutan.

The weather is expected to be mostly cloudy with light to moderate rain at isolated places of the country during the next 72 hours. Thunderstorm is also likely at isolated places of southern, eastern and central parts of the country during this period. Light snowfall is also likely over the high passes and high altitude areas.

March to May is the pre-monsoon (spring) season for Bhutan which is the transition phase of the season from winter to summer. During this transition the dominating wind direction is changing from westerly to southwest thereby creating unstable atmospheric conditions. These conditions are suitable for the formation of the convective clouds and associated heavy rain with thunderstorm and windstorms over the isolated places of the country.
