Report on the Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘YAAS’- Update 2

The Cyclonic Storm ‘YAAS’ (pronounced as Yass) formed as a low pressure on 23rd May, 2021 hasnow intensified as a Severe Cyclonic Storm. It is likely to move north northwestwards and weakeninto a Cyclonic Storm during the next 06 hours. It had a landfall near Balasore in Odisha aroundnoon (12BST) of 26th May, 2021 as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm as per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

Impact over Bhutan
There is no significant change in the forecast track of the cyclone and Bhutan is away from the track. After the landfall the cyclone is expected to weaken. However, under the influence of the cyclone,cloudy weather with light to moderate rain is likely over the country during the next 72 hours (towards the evening of 27th May to 29th May). Moderate rain with thunder and lightning over the southern and isolated places of central parts of the country is forecasted during the same period.
