Weather remark 

Moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms was observed over a few places in the south in the past few weeks. Owing to the fresh western disturbance, there is a forecast of moderate to heavy rain over a few places in the south from 11th May onwards. Rest of the region can expect light rain. Thunderstorms are also likely over a few places of the country during the same period. 

Information on cyclone ASANI: 

There is a severe cyclonic storm ASANI over the southeast and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, it is very likely to move northwestward till 10th May and reach northwest Bay of Bengal of North Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts. Thereafter, it is very likely to recurve north-northeast wards and move northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast. It is likely to gradually weaken to a cyclonic storm during the next 48 hours. 

Currently, there is no direct impact of the cyclone to the country. The centre is monitoring the system and if there are any significant changes in the forecast, updates and advisory will be issued.
