Most places in the country have been experiencing mostly dry weather and above normal temperatures during the past two weeks. This can be attributed to the break in the monsoon caused by the influence of the low pressure system and the monsoon trough position among others. Maximum temperature observed was an average of 2.6 °C above the long term normal for July 2022. Today the maximum temperature remained above normal by 4.2 °C. However, no extreme has been reported so far.

For the next few days, the dry weather conditions during day time and above normal temperatures are likely to continue. Public is advised to take necessary precautions.

The monsoon trough is likely to shift to its normal position and normal monsoon rain is expected from next week.

Updates will be provided if there are significant changes in the forecast.
